Knee Surgergy: No Joke UGH!!!

Right: MY CRAPPY KNEES
Well... my knees hurt basically all the time...I think I put it off as long as I can.(10 years plus) It's pretty bad when you can't do simple things you once took for granted...like walking, getting up after sitting, working in the garden, actually getting up is the hardest thing, and I hate that I can't get up from my beach chair without pain...that sucks...I love the beach etc... I'm not gonna complain anymore, I decided to do something about it. They say pain is the greatest motivator, I guess that's right. I went to the Doctor; she said what I expected she would say, but I was kinda in denial about my right knee. She took ex-rays and pointed out the many imperfections in my deteriorated knees (yes both).  Even though I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee back in July, she said it did more harm than good. Now there is scar tissue in my right knee that will make it harder to recover from a knee replacement; which it needs. Good news is Replacement knees last 20 plus years...by my calculations I will be about "80" by the time it wears out.  Hmmmm 80:-{  She said we (get that we) will get the first one done (left knee) and then see how that goes and then we will play it by ear to see when to do the other. But she said she does not want to wait tooo long; within the year. OMG!!!
Knee Replacement
The surgery is scheduled for April Fool's Day (No Joke). I'm kinda scared...Ah! who am I kidding...I am scared as hell!!!!!   I am on an emotional roller coaster, sometimes I cry, sometimes I take it out on you know who (he takes a lot of crap sometimes), sometimes I fake that I am strong about it, sometimes I think it's gonna go great and other times I think the worst (What if...Infection, Allergic recaction etc...) So...what if...YIKES!!! Don't go there. lol  I have to go soon and get a metal allergy test to make sure my body will not reject the chrome in the knee replacement (2 hour test).

Good News is she (Dr. Rassmussen) seems like a very knowledgeable, compassionate, experienced doctor.  She has a low, 1% infection rate (same @most places), she does lots of knee replacements, she has a background in plastic surgery (less noticeable scar), she has been doing this for 17 years, and she loves her work (that's kinda scary...cause who likes to look at knee bones and cut open legs) :-0
Oh well...Life is too short to waste it, Soooo Wish me Good Luck!!! ttfn

PS: Make sure you are tested for metal allergies: I was tested bc I told them I thought I was allergic to metal (Can't wear jewelry). Results: I am highly allergic to Nickel & Cobalt...10% of knee was Nickel & 60% of knee was Cobalt: NO GOOD:-(  They do not usually test people bc statistics show that only 1% of population has these kinds of allergies, but I had to get a different kind of knee: I call it the Billy Jean King Knee: but it is really called: Smith and Nephew legion knee, made of OXINIUM oxidized Zicronium, supposed to last 30 years. So Why don't they use this good, durable kind of knee for everybody: I asked, Dr. said way more expensive & only been tested by machine for 30 year guarantee and  humans since 2005.
